Inspiring the Next Generation

As part of our ongoing commitment to delivering Social Value, Hamilton Architects was pleased to welcome a number of enthusiastic sixth form students for work experience placements. Spending anything from a few days to a full week with us, each student was paired with a mentor from our architectural team to gain first-hand insight into the profession and life in a busy design studio.

Throughout their time with us, the students worked side by side with our architects, delving into architectural design, research, and digital modelling. They explored Belfast’s architectural landscape, researched architects who inspired them, and interviewed members of our team to understand the diverse pathways into architecture and the realities of day-to-day practice.

Equipped with tools like Revit and Enscape, the students were given the chance to bring their own creative visions to life. They modelled 3D buildings and completed real-time renderings of their imagined designs, developing skills in digital design and spatial thinking.

One student even swapped the studio for the site. Reflecting on the experience, she shared:

“I loved getting to experience firsthand what the job of an architect entails and observing the work of architects around me.”

It has been a rewarding few weeks, and we are proud to have supported the next generation of designers in discovering what a future in architecture could look like.
