A concept design for a new school building in Dungannon is currently awaiting approval from the Department of Education.
The proposed development will provide a modern learning environment tailored to meet increasing demand in the area. The approved scheme includes a 5-classroom base. The layout is designed to support collaborative learning, with classrooms grouped around a shared resource base to encourage interaction and provide flexible breakout spaces.
A central open courtyard has been introduced to enhance natural light within the resource areas while also providing protected outdoor play opportunities. The design takes inspiration from the surrounding landscape, with a carefully selected material palette ensuring the building blends seamlessly into its rural setting.
The main entrance, clad in brick, provides a strong and welcoming focal point, while the classroom block, featuring a butterfly-style roof, is finished in white render for a contemporary aesthetic. A bronze standing seam metal cladding on the multi-purpose hall reflects the materials commonly found in local agricultural buildings.
Once approved, this project will deliver a high-quality learning environment, designed to support modern education while remaining sensitive to its surroundings.
