Our design for Glenwood Primary School has received planning approval, marking a key milestone in its redevelopment. The project will now move towards contractor appointment, with construction expected to begin within the next year.
Originally designed in 1928 by renowned schools architect RS Wilshere, the Grade B1 listed building will undergo an extensive refurbishment and extension by Hamilton Architects. The scheme includes 21 new classrooms, a Special Educational Needs unit covering 3,563m², and a replacement for the 1960s extension.
A key challenge was balancing modern educational needs with the integrity of the historic building, ensuring that as many unique features as possible are preserved while creating a learning environment fit for the future.
