Hamilton Architects, part of Willmott Dixon Interiors Design Team, are leading design services for a comprehensive refurbishment of 200 Buckingham Palace Road, London. The project aims to provide prestigious new offices for the British Transport Police’s (BTP) London Hub.
Spanning over eight floors, the refurbishment will undergo a holistic transformation, incorporating sustainable upgrades aimed at significantly reducing future operational costs.
The proposed design for the entrance and reception is both sophisticated and nostalgic, drawing inspiration from timeless transport iconography while embracing the modern aesthetics synonymous with the values of the BTP.
A two-phase entrance prioritises security with the strategic separation of visitor and staff entries. Visitors will be greeted by midnight-coloured timber panelling and curved glazing reminiscent of Transport for London locomotives, guiding them past a curated display of memorabilia reflecting the service’s illustrious history.
Upon completion, the revamped space will facilitate the relocation of various departments of the BTP, with Transport for London retaining occupancy of one floor.
