Derry’s £1m Visitor Information Centre, designed by Hamilton Architects, has been shortlisted for the Irish Travel Industry Awards in the Best County Tourist Office category.

The state-of-the-art centre services the needs of local and international visitors and acts as an orientation hub in the heart of the city from the new location at Waterloo Place, which opened in May 2020.

Hamilton Architects led the project team, which included an Interpretative Designer, to create an engaging immersive visitor experience which provides a gateway for the exploration of the whole North West of Ireland.

Marcon Fit-Out of Antrim carried out the interior fit-out of the ground floor unit, including mechanical and electrical works, specialist joinery, audio visual and graphics.

The ITIAs are designed to showcase excellence in the delivery of international travel services to both leisure and business customers, embracing a range of businesses including air and sea transport companies, tour operators, destination representatives and specialist service providers.

The awards will be presented at a prestigious gala banquet in The Mansion House, Dublin, on 27th January, 2022.
