Hamilton Architects provided design services for the £5.6m regeneration of historical Brooke Park which has just re-opened as a key component in the physical, social and economic renaissance of Derry City.

Seamus McCloskey, Partner, said: “Our design retained the historical character of the park while transforming this important green space, with its parkland, leisure, educational and community facilities, into a modern amenity.

“This included the restoration of period features, some of which go back to the 1840s, as well as the creation of state-of-the-art facilities such as a play garden, Gwyn’s Pavilion cafe, synthetic pitch, horticulture training area and contact sports centre.”

Accessibility was reconfigured around historic features like the Oval Pond, Gate Lodge, Black Man statue, gates, railings and boundary walls, while outdoor furniture was provided and appropriate replanting carried out.
